June inaugural sailing of SuperStar Aquarius from Qingdao paves the way for flagship SuperStar Virgo’s maiden homeport deployment in autumn

Qingdao, China – 14 June 2018 – Following on the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Summit successfully held in Qingdao, Star Cruises continues to raise the profile of the city by celebrating the inaugural sailing of SuperStar Aquarius from her new Qingdao homeport yesterday. Guests from the Shandong peninsula and neighbouring cities will be able to enjoy cruise journeys to Japanese destinations such as Nagasaki, Fukuoka, Sasebo and Beppu in the coming month. SuperStar Virgo, the flagship of Asia’s leading cruise line, will also embark on new Qingdao homeport itineraries starting from November, further contributing to the development of the cruise economy in Qingdao.

MCruise to the picturesque destinations of Japan with Superstar Aquarius this summer

The 13-deck, 51,000-ton SuperStar Aquarius measures 230 meters in length and 28 meters in width and boasts 756 cabins, nine restaurants and bars, as well as amenities including swimming pool, gymnasium and karaoke.

SuperStar Aquarius will depart from her new homeport in Qingdao and cruise to multiple destinations in Japan including Nagasaki, Fukuoka, Sasebo and Beppu: recognised as one of the three cities with the most spectacular night views in the world. Nagasaki is set on a natural harbour highlighted by distinctive terraces of the surrounding hills; Fukuoka is the largest city in Kyushu and one of Japan’s top culinary destinations, famous for traditional Hakata ramen noodles; Sasebo is where the largest theme park in Kyushu - Huis Ten Bosch is located; and, Beppu is one of Japan’s most famed hot spring resorts and the world's second largest source of thermal water. Junior Cruiser Program, the signature children’s program of Star Cruises, will return this summer with special activities curated based on the Doraemon movie, where children will learn Doraemon’s language (Japanese), dance to the theme songs of Doraemon animations, challenge their memory with Doraemon card games and more.

While cruising at sea, guests will enjoy a hassle-free experience on SuperStar Aquarius, complemented by her signature Asian hospitality and award-winning delicacies that are unique to Star Cruises. From International cuisine and barbecue fare in Oceana, Asian specialty buffets in Spices Restaurant, authentic Chinese cuisine in Taipan and Dynasty Restaurants, to Southeast Asian delights in the 24-hour Blue Lagoon, the Star culinary team showcases an array of extraordinary culinary delights in all of the nine bars and restaurants on-board. The exclusive “Little Dreamers Program” for kids will be hosted on SuperStar Aquarius’ June 25 departure, where they will enjoy a fun-filled and educational journey at sea through fun and games including a set sail party, towel animals and captain’s hat making lessons, cupcake workshops and more.

SuperStar Aquarius offers a great variety of cabin categories that caters to every guest’s needs – from inside cabins to Owner Suites, guests of every budget will feel equally at home. For those who opt for suite accommodations, exclusive privileges include priority embarkation and disembarkation, a Gala dinner, priority restaurant and shore excursion bookings, complimentary Wi-Fi, exclusive access to steam and sauna facilities, as well as daily fruit platters and set menus in Taipan Restaurant.SuperStar Aquarius will make her homeport debut in Qingdao on 13 June, where guests from Northern China will enjoy cruise voyages to Nagasaki, Fukuoka, Sasebo and Beppu; she will be back to her dual homeports in Kaohsiung and Keelung, Taiwan from 4 July onwards. SuperStar Virgo Brings Treasure Hunt at Sea with Doraemon to Qingdao this autumn

SuperStar Virgo, the flagship of Star Cruises will call Qingdao homeport starting from November, taking guests on 4-night cruises to Kagoshima and Fukuoka and Fukuoka and Nagasaki. Fans of Doraemon will also have exclusive access to the special “Anywhere Door” at sea, which will lead to a delightful experience featuring limited-edition gift sets, special in-cabin décor and menus, as well as interactive workshops and photo corners with Doraemon and friends.The exclusive “Little Dreamers Program” for kids will be hosted on SuperStar Aquarius’ June 25 departure, where they will enjoy a fun-filled and educational journey at sea through fun and games including a set sail party, towel animals and captain’s hat making lessons, cupcake workshops and more.
